BEFORE YOU BOOK
HERE ARE SOME IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW AHEAD OF TIME AND A FEW STEPS YOU CAN TAKE TO PREPARE FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT.
What to know before you book:
Your hair should be at least a 1/4 of an inch long (the length of a grain of rice) to do the procedure. Before you schedule, make sure your hair will be long enough at the time of treatment.
EXFOLIATION, PART I (everything but the genitals): To prepare your skin, exfoliate – gently – 2 days before your appointment but not in the 24 hours immediately before your session. In other words, give your skin a day to rest after exfoliation.
EXFOLIATION, PART II (your genitals): When it comes to exfoliating the genitals, please be gentle – no need for chemical or abrasive scrubs; a soft washcloth and light soap is fine.
A NOTE ON PIERCINGS: If you have piercings in any of the areas we will be sugaring, please plan on removing them before treatment.
And finally – IT IS VITAL that you do not schedule if you have taken Accutane (or similar medications) within the last year OR if you have recently been on antibiotics. These medications can soften the skin which could lead to a “skin lift” during sugaring or waxing treatments.
NO TRIMMING OR SHAVING BETWEEN APPOINTMENTS.
What to know before your appointment:
DO NOT TRIM OR SHAVE THE AREA TO BE TREATED BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT. If it needs trimming, it will be done at the time of your session.
Avoid retinoid creams at least 48 hours before your appointment.
Avoid tanning at least 48 hours before your appointment.
On your appointment day, do not use moisturizer or lotion on the treatment area.
Immediately before your appointment, don’t engage in any activity that might cause you to sweat: that means no yoga or vigorous exercise before your appointment. We need your body in a relaxed state because sweat is the enemy of sugar (which is water soluble and requires a dry surface in order to be effective .) You can work out before your appointment, but give your body time to cool down before you arrive.
Do not apply deodorant if getting underarms sugared.
If this is your first time you might want to take any over-the-counter painkiller that you are comfortable with. Anything at the recommended dose that works for you in other circumstances is fine here.
Avoid caffeine starting a few hours before your appointment. Caffeine is a stimulant and will increase sensations.
Do not plan on working out, swimming, tanning, or having sex for at least 24 hours after your appointment. Avoid doing anything that is going to cause you to sweat profusely immediately after your appointment.
It's a good idea to change into clean clothes afterwards. If you've been to the gym or running about all day in the same clothes, it's best to change into something fresh and clean. Not a deal-breaker, but highly recommended.
